Are Cellular Alarm Systems Really The Best Alarm Systems?

In short, yes, cellular alarm systems are the best alarm systems. But before we go in to more detail let’s talk about what a cellular alarm system actually is. When talking about a cellular alarm system we’re talking about the way the alarm system is monitored. For instance, when your home alarm system is triggered or set off it sends a signal to the monitoring station so they can contact the proper authorities. This signal is sent using a phone line, Internet, or cellular connection. Traditional home alarm systems used a phone line to connect to the monitoring station, and many alarm systems still do.

So, what’s wrong with a phone line or Internet monitoring connection?

Quite simply, both of those methods use wires to communicate in some way. Your phone line is a wire, and if you live in an older home or have your phone line exposed outside the home you are susceptible to someone simply cutting the phone line. This would disable your alarm system’s prime functionality before the intruder even stepped foot in your home. As for Internet based monitoring connections those can also but “cut”, as often times there is a box outside the home where your Internet connections are stored that could be tampered with.

This susceptibility does not exist with a cellular alarm system. A cellular alarm system has a built in device, that is placed in the Control Panel, that cannot be tampered with unless an intruder were to first set off the alarm system. Even if the alarm system has a delay period of some sort, many alarm companies have created backup features that guard against tampering with a cellular alarm system. One company, FrontPoint Security, talks about their feature known as “Pending Alarms”. This feature allows the alarm system to send out a “Pending” alarm signal whenever a sensor is triggered but the system is set to a delay. If the system is not disarmed during the delay period, for whatever reason, the pending alarm becomes an actual alarm event. So even if an intruder entered the home and smashed the Control Panel, the pending alarm would have already been sent out; this makes it nearly impossible to defeat the cellular alarm system.

So, in other words a cellular alarm system is the safest and by far the most reliable. It cannot be easily defeated and ensures that your system works when you need it. Even if an intruder cut your phone or Internet connection, it wouldn’t matter.

Whether you own an alarm system currently or are looking to install a new alarm system Alarm System Report suggests looking into alarm system companies that offer cellular alarm systems. The price difference is minimal when comparing to other monitoring methods and the safety and reliability you receive is well worth any additional fee, no matter how small it may be.
