Best Residential Alarm Systems
No matter what type of property you have an alarm system can help protect that property from burglaries, fires and other environmental disasters. The most common types of alarm systems are those for the home, or residential alarm systems. A residential alarm system can be used to deter potential burglars, prevent fire or smoke damage and keep your family safe from odorless fumes like carbon monoxide. Millions of people around the world use residential alarm systems to protect their homes.
Today’s blog post is about which residential alarm systems are the best! For further information about the alarm companies talked about in this post you can visit Alarm System Report’s alarm system reviews or start comparing quotes.
First, let’s go over the method to the madness for determining the best residential alarm systems. Much like our reviews our experts used several criteria to determine the best residential alarm system. The criteria are:
- Does the alarm company use up to date alarm equipment?
- Does the alarm company provide a good value?
- Does the alarm company practice great customer service?
- Does the alarm system WORK the way it’s supposed to?
- What do the alarm company’s customers say about them?
Now that we know the criteria for determining the best residential alarm system let’s find out who is best!
First Place Winner: FrontPoint Security
Call FrontPoint Security at (855) 873-5596 or Get A Quote
FrontPoint Security came out on top when it comes to the best residential alarm system. FrontPoint provides 100% wireless and 100% cellular home alarm systems with the latest GE Security alarm systems that are built for easy Do It Yourself alarm installation. FrontPoint advertises all of their pricing on their website and don’t hide anything from its customers. Basic alarm systems start at a minimum of $99 and you can get a fully customized alarm system for a great value. Not to mention the monthly monitoring fee is extremely affordable for what you get (100% cellular monitoring, online/remote access, home automation).
FrontPoint has an outspoken customer base and those currently using FrontPoint are extremely satisfied with the alarm service they are provided. FrontPoint has great ratings with Alarm System Report and many other review authorities as well as the Better Business Bureau and of course great customer reviews like we said before. FrontPoint is the clear winner when it comes to residential alarm systems.
Runner-Up: Protect America
Call Protect America at (877) 459-7557 or Get A Quote
Protect America came in at a close second to FrontPoint for our best residential alarm systems. Protect America offers a similar service to that of FrontPoint. Protect America offers 100% wireless Do It Yourself GE alarm systems, however, offers options for phone line monitoring as well as cellular monitoring. Protect America has great pricing on their up-front cost. Many of their residential alarm system packages are advertised as free of charge (view Protect America pricing). Some packages even offer up to 15 alarm sensors at no cost to you.
The downfall to paying little to nothing up-front, or nothing at all, is that you end up paying it back in monthly service fees. This is a decent trade off depending on your budget but Protect America often boosts their monthly rates for cellular monitoring making it more expensive than many other options. However, word on the street is Protect America is price matching many other companies on monthly charge. With no up-front cost and a price match guarantee Protect America is tough to beat.
The thing that keeps Protect America in second place is their customer service. For years Protect America was known as a company that couldn’t care any less about their customers. They have recently doubled their efforts in changing that perception and have taken more pride in their customer relations. Protect America is a great option for a residential alarm system for a great price.
Third Place: ADT Security
Call ADT Security at (888) 352-3304 or Get A Quote
ADT came out in third place in our top three for residential alarm systems. ADT has been around forever and was once the go-to alarm company. ADT provides nationwide service through their Authorized Dealer Program, which basically means local alarm companies will sell you the alarm system and equipment but it will be monitored by ADT. ADT provides wireless and hard wired alarm systems as well as options for phone line, broadband and cellular monitoring. ADT’s up front costs can be expensive depending on which dealer you speak with and the monthly fees will range based on certain services like remote access or cellular monitoring. ADT isn’t always the cheapest but it’s a solid residential alarm system.
Like we said ADT has been around forever and through the years have stayed consistent with customer services. A company as large as ADT is going to have its fair share of complaints, but overall ADT has done well in this regard. Most ADT customers are satisfied with the product and service, however, large companies often move a little slower than some of the newer alarm companies. The technology is lacking compared to some other companies including the two above them on this list. Regardless, ADT can provide you with a great residential alarm system for a good price.
