Home Security Myths
Home security has been around for centuries. Egyptians built elaborate tombs in order to protect their treasures in the afterlife. Fundamentally, that is very similar to today. Yes, we have homes with locks on them now, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still “tomb raiders” out there, waiting for an opportunity or reason to strike.
Home security is important and an alarm system can be an excellent tool to relieve stress practically. Alarm system companies have evolved and the myths that follow the industry were maybe relevant at one point, but no longer are.
The biggest myth that we hear about is that all alarm systems have to installed by a professional. This is simply not the case and most of the alarm systems that we recommend at Alarm System Reviews are DIY alarm systems. A DIY alarm system is a great way for you to save time and money when installing an alarm system. It also brings us to myth number 2…
Myth number 2 is that DIY alarm systems are somehow cheaper or do not work as well as a professionally installed alarm system. Picking the right home security method can be a little tricky… but installing a DIY alarm system is not at all. It will take you 30-60 minutes to complete and you wont have o take off of work to do it. Alarm systems companies have perfected the “DIY alarm system” and made it truly very easy to install.
False alarms are another big point of concern for many home owns that are looking into home security. Alarm systems had to deal with false alarms much more frequently 10-15 years ago. Nowadays though, every time your alarm is triggered, the alarm system company will be called to confirm or deny a problem. If there’s not a problem, then tell them and you can both go on with your day. The fees add up when the police actually arrive at your home. But since the alarm system company is ow a middle man, this does not generally happen.
