How Home Fire Monitoring Can Save Your Life
Fire is one of the most dangerous elements in the world. A fire can start from almost anything whether it’s from a match, electrical wiring, explosions, or simply a dropped cigarette. Fires can start at anytime and engulf a house in matter of minutes. However, if you’re prepared you could save your own life, and the lives of your family. Home fire monitoring is one way you can prepare yourself for a potential fire at your home, and is an easy way to contact the authorities in the event of a fire.
How does home fire monitoring work?. Good question. It’s pretty simple actually. When you purchase an alarm system with monthly monitoring you’ll usually have the option to include home fire monitoring. This is fairly standard with most home alarm companies these days. Home fire monitoring may cost extra with some companies, however, the top alarm companies will offer this at no extra charge. But I digress…
Home fire monitoring works by installing monitored smoke detectors around your home. These are different than your standard smoke detectors you may find at a hardware store. These smoke detectors are synced with your alarm system and are used for both monitoring smoke and a rapid rise in heat in your home that may accompany a fire. When the sensor detects a rise in heat or smoke it will trigger and send a signal to the Control Panel. The Control Panel will alert the monitoring station automatically who will then contact your local fire department. This all happens in a matter of just a few seconds, and fire department personnel should be on their way to your home.
Like we said before a fire can occur at any time, it can happen when your at home cooking dinner, asleep at night, or away on vacation. Countless lives have been lost to fires because home fire monitoring either didn’t exist or wasn’t used. Were it us making the rules we would require monitored smoke detectors in every home, rather than the traditional “noisemaker” detectors that most people use today. Those only notify YOU that there may be smoke or a fire in the home, but no one else will know. Home fire monitoring will have the fire department on their way in no time to hopefully put out the fire and keep your home from burning to the ground, or losing a family member to fire related injuries.
